Vigorlock Breeding
Vigorlock breeding locks in more hybrid vigor than conventional alfalfa breeding, resulting in stronger, healthier plants. Expect 5-15% high yield and a healthier stand. While Vigorlock breeding is more costly than conventional breeding, the modest increase in the cost of seed is quickly offset by greater production. The letter VL in a variety name indicate that it has Vigorlock breeding.
In our initial trial at the end of the 3rd year of testing, Cimarron VL400 yielded 13% more than varieties bred in the traditional way.
